Obituary

William John Brady (Bill) passed away on February 22, 2019.  He was born in a sod house on July 27, 1924 in Cottonwood, Montana to Joseph and Elizabeth Brady.  He was the 6 th of 7 children.  The family later moved from Cottonwood to Lohman and later to Havre, Montana where Bill attended high school.  He graduated from Havre High School in 1942.  While in high school, Bill assisted with basketball, sang in the choir, played in the school band, and made and flew model airplanes.  After graduation Bill joined the Army and served during World War II.  In 1944 he married Louella Stevens.  The couple had 5 children.  After his Army discharge Bill worked at farming, car parts salesman, accountant, and even started his own car parts business in Chinook, Montana.

The family moved to Hamilton in 1966 where Bill started the Hamilton's Mr. Klean cleaning service.  Hamilton's Mr. Klean sponsored a baseball team where the motto was " everybody gets to play the game."  After umpire certification Bill served as Hamilton city teams' umpire for several years.

When his wife Louella passed away in 1976, Bill married Jane Ellison who had 5 children.  Bill continued managing his Hamilton's Mr. Klean business and also taught Custodial and Building Maintenance classes at the Trapper Creek Job Corp until his retirement.   On October 2, 2016, Bill and Jane were able to celebrate their 40 th wedding anniversary just 2 weeks before she passed away.

Besides family Bill enjoyed his part time jobs of demonstrating samples and stocking shelves in the valley supermarkets.  Other hobbies included gardening, flowers, fruit trees, reading Montana history books, fishing, hiking, and watching wrestling and football on TV.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion/VFW.  With his exuberance for life Bill was not afraid of change.  For Bill change brought a new sense of adventure and learning.  His motto was, "Once you turn a page, don't look back or try to go back – just take it one day at a time.  Don't stress.  Enjoy life and what it offers."  He had a "no grudges, no regrets" approach to life.  He was a member of the Wesleyan Church for over 40 years.  The family would like to express gratitude and thanks to all the staff at Discovery Care Center and the Marcus Daly Hospice Center.  The family appreciates all the nursing and skilled care they provided for Bill.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 2 wives, 3 children.  He is survived by children:  Carrie (Raymond) Tow of Idaho Falls, Idaho;  Mark (Ethlynn) Brady of Helena, Montana;  Cheri ( Rod) Olson of Lakeside, Montana; Jeff (Ethel) Ellison of Torrington, Wyoming;  James (Carri) Ellison of Torrington, Wyoming;  Deborah Jones of Frisco, Texas;  Elizabeth (Terry) Posio of Dixon, Montana;    17 grandchildren,  17 great grandchildren.
