Wallace Burton Braach, 91, was carried by the angels to his heavenly home on September 28 th , 2022, at the Missoula Manor. Wally was born at home, (The Bingo House) on November 17, 1930, to Otto and Frieda (Bieler) Braach in Sheridan, MT. He joined his two older brothers, Clifford and Ramond, and his younger brother David would follow seven years later. Wally began his education at the little log school cabin in Brandon. The following years he received his education in Sheridan, and in 1947, the family moved to Hall where Wally attended school in Drummond. Wally enlisted in the Marines at the age of 18 and fought in the Korean War. In 1953 while working on his father's ranch, Wally met and married Kay James in Drummond. To this union, they were blessed with six children. The couple divorced in 1968. Wally's work history consisted of ranch hand, truck driver, Glacier Park Security Guard, a host, and card dealer at a few casinos in Las Vegas where he lived for about 34 years. Wally also worked at the Oxford in downtown Missoula in his younger days. In 2008 Wally returned to his Montana roots and spent his final years living in the place that he called "his last stop," the Missoula Manor.
Wally was preceded in death by his "Mama" Frieda (Bieler) and his "Daddy" Otto "Mike" Braach, his brothers, Clifford and Raymond, his son Wallace "Geno" Braach and his grandson Cory Lee Stanley. He is survived by his younger brother David (Lucy) Braach of Missoula, children Gary (Margie) Braach of Boise, Idaho, Penny (Dan) Phillips of Lolo, MT, Timothy (Kris) Braach of Spokane, WA., Mardi (Rod) Benson of Helena MT., and Ava (Tod) Wentworth of Bozeman, MT. Wally was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery located at 1911 Tower Street in Missoula at 1:00pm on Friday, October 7 th , 2022. Military honors presented by the Active-Duty Marines and the VFW of Missoula. Please join the family for "an eat & visit time" after the service at the Overlook Shelter at Fort Missoula Regional Park (3401-3499 South Ave. W) directly south of the veteran's cemetery. Timothy Braach, son, will be presiding over the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missoula Manor or Braach Shepherds 4 Veterans, INC. 501c3.
