Sandra S."Sandee"
Hughes
Dec 18, 1941 — Oct 24, 2025
Sandra Sue Hughes, better known as Sandee, 83, passed away on October 24th from Breast Cancer, in Hamilton, Montana. Both of her sons and beloved daughter-in-law were with her as she passed.
Sandee was born on December 18, 1941, to Samuel and Dorothy Furda. She was raised in Fremont, Michigan and graduated from Freemont High. In 1961, she married Bill Hughes, and had two sons, Bill and Chris.
She, like her mother, was a master of "comfort food." She later wrote a cooking column for a local Idaho newspaper. Her love of cooking influenced both of her sons' love of the culinary world, which has also been passed on to one of her grandsons. She worked in hospital ERs as a nurse's aide while raising her sons and later spent over 20 years at First Security Bank in Missoula.
She will be remembered for her quirky and fun sense of humor. She loved to make people laugh. She had dogs most of her adult life and became one of the worst "dog trainers" the world has ever known. However, her dogs, especially her most recent, Sophie, were fiercely loved and cared for.
Sandee was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her brother, James. She is survived by her two sons, her three grandchildren and her two great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Sandee's name to your local Humane Society.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at 2pm on November 21st in Hamilton. The gathering will be held in the Community Room adjacent to the sanctuary.
