Obituary

Bob J. King

Robert Joseph King of Missoula, 72, passed away peacefully in the Lord's embrace on May 10, 2024. Bob was born on September 21, 1951, in Trenton, New Jersey, to his loving parents, Joseph Andrew and Helen Marie King. In 1981, he married his beloved sweetheart, Frances (Fran), in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage, spanning 42 cherished years, was later blessed at Saint Anthony's Parish in Missoula by Father Miller.

Bob received his education at Immaculate Conception Catholic Elementary School, Junior Four, Trenton High School, and Mercer County Community College.

Throughout his life, Bob demonstrated a diverse range of skills. He worked as a warehouseman, factory machine operator, property and motel maintenance technician, underground miner, crane operator, logger and timber faller, and in logging management.

In 1976, Bob's love for the outdoors and the warm-hearted culture of Montana beckoned him to relocate from New Jersey. He reveled in hiking, camping, hunting, and, most notably, his profound passion for fishing and the fine art of fly fishing.

With humility and devotion, Bob embraced his Catholic faith and was an active member of Saint Anthony Parish for over 30 years. He served as a Eucharistic minister, brought communion to the homebound, and lovingly conducted communion services with his wife, Fran, at the Missoula Manor Assisted Living Home since 2001.

Bob cherished his family deeply, and his love for his wife, sons, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews was unwavering. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle who embraced his faith and the great outdoors.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Fran; his sons, Joseph (wife Kasey) and Dean; grandchildren James, Jeremy, and Alice; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Helen King, and his brothers, Thomas M. King and Joseph Jr. King.

A Vigil service will be held on May 30th at 6:00 PM.  A Memorial service for Bob will be held on May 31st at 11:00 AM,  Both services will take place at Saint Anthony's Parish in Missoula, Montana. The family extends their sincere gratitude to Partner's Homecare and Brothers Mortuary and Crematory Service for their compassionate support during Bob's final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory would be gratefully appreciated and can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/).
