Mark A.
Skrivseth
Aug 31, 1955 — Apr 10, 2021
Darby, Montana – Mark Allen Skrivseth (65) passed away at his home on April 10, 2021 of natural causes.
Mark was born in Missoula, MT on August 31,1955 to George and Violet Skrivseth. He grew up in Missoula alongside his two older brothers, Lon and Dean. He graduated from Hellgate High School in 1974. Mark worked for Intermountain Wood Products from 1974 until 1993 at which time he made a career change and worked at Opportunity Resources, Inc. Mark became disabled in 2001 at which time he began an early retirement.
On August 3, 1985 Mark married Nikki Koontz. Two sons were born from this union; Kurt Allen and Jeffrey Alexander. Mark's hobbies included music and repairing or modifying anything electronic. It was impossible to have a conversation with him where he didn't eventually change the subject to lasers, resistors, transistors, or solenoids. He was known for fixing, or at least attempting to fix, any device that was brought to him. He used this knowledge to retrofit battery-operated vehicles with hand controls so that children with physical disabilities could use their hands to drive. He loved remote controlled cars, planes, gliders, and helicopters. Mark was a lover of music and always had a bass guitar and an oversized amplifier nearby. He liked his music loud and showed no mercy to his neighbors. Mark was especially proud of his 1968 Cutlass convertible, his Suzuki motorcycle, and his original pinball wizard game which was addictive to everyone who played it. He had a jukebox and spent hours maintaining and acquiring new 45 records for it. Mark and his family loved camping and the outdoors. On any given weekend during the 1990's there's a good chance they could be found camping at Fish Creek. Mark loved staying up late, feeding a campfire, and looking up at the stars.
Mark spent the last years of his life living in a beautiful setting outside of Darby in a cabin where herds of elk roam. He flew his rc airplanes, listened to music, and continued to work on as many projects as he could get his hands on. He enjoyed watching his son, Kurt, play music and attended as many concerts and shows as possible. He cherished the time he spent with his sons.
Mark is survived by father, George Skrivseth and his two sons Kurt and Jeff Skrivseth, one nephew and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Skrivseth, and his brothers Lon and Dean Skrivseth.
In lieu of a service or flowers, as per Mark's wishes, donations in his memory may be made to the Western Montana Humane Society.
