Harold G Mendes
1939-2026
The dash between these dates tells the story of Harold's life. He was a man with a sharp sense
of humor, deep pride, and a caring heart. He valued his friendships greatly, often treating friends
like family. Harold was known for his honesty, he told things as they were, without sugarcoating
and being ever so obstinate.
Harold was born in 1939 to Frank Mendes and Margaret Bagge and was the sixth of eight
children. He graduated from high school, went on to Serve in the United States Airforce, and
then working in construction before retiring.
After retirement, Harold moved to Montana's Bitterroot Valley, where he built a meaningful life.
He enjoyed meeting new friends at his favorite breakfast spot The Frontier Cafe , attending
rodeos, and spending time with the community he loved.
Harold found happiness in tending to his yard and garden, but his greatest love was always his
dogs, they truly were his world. He also cherished being present for graduations, holidays, and
special moments, and was always willing to help those he cared about.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his two beloved dogs. He is
survived by the many friends who knew, loved, and will deeply miss him.
