Obituary

Harold Dean McKeever entered rest on September 20, 2023 in Missoula, Montana. Dean was born in
Hoyt, KS February 21, 1935, to Clyde and Grace Marshall McKeever. He was the youngest of six children.
He grew up in and around the Hoyt area, and like most typical farm boys of that era, he kept busy with
daily chores. They included feeding and tending the horses, rock fence building, cultivating fields, and
exploring land. He graduated from Hoyt High School in 1952, and a group of his classmates remained
close and met annually to support, laugh, and keep each other humble.
In December 1953, he married DeLora Swan McKeever, and they were parents of three kids. Dean and
Dee later divorced, and in 1984 he married Georgia in Hutchinson, KS, and welcomed her four children
into his life. Dean and Georgia lived in several different places, and enjoyed traveling, especially to
national parks.
Dean retired after 37 years of service to Kansas Power & Light Co., which is now known as Evergy. He
started in Topeka, KS then transferred to Marysville, KS, Lyons, KS, and finally to Hutchinson.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Chuck and Bob, and sisters Frances and Betty, and
a son Steve McKeever.
Survivors include his wife Georgia, one brother Harry McKeever, son Brad (Mary) McKeever, daughter
Vickie (Mike) Studer, daughter-in-law Debbie McKeever, and stepchildren Jack (Gina) Hoskinson, Sam,
(Leslie Bishop) Hoskinson and Cynthia (Ross) Rademacher, as well as many grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on October 13, 2023, 11: A.M. at Mount Hope cemetery in Topeka, KS at the
