Obituary

Gloria Patricia Wray Wilson, aged 84, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in Victor, MT. Born on February 19, 1941, Gloria led a life marked by dedication, creativity, and love. Her heart, spirit and soul are now in the hands of God.

Gloria was born in Alberta, British Columbia Canada. Her father was an active worker on the railroad tracks, which moved her family to Southern California. Here they settled in Morro Bay, right next door to her future husband, Steve Wilson of 65 years. Steve recalls that Gloria stole his heart with her sharp wit, good looks, and delicious cookies.

Gloria was renowned for her exceptional skills as a seamstress, a craft she honed from a young age. After graduating from San Luis Obispo High School, she embarked on a career that began at Shadow-Line Corporation in California, sewing women's lingerie. Her passion and expertise in sewing blossomed further when she and her husband, Steve, founded Wilson's Custom Draperies in the early 1970s. Their business, known for its exquisite custom draperies and curtains, left a lasting impression on many homes in the valley. Today, the business legacy is upheld by her daughter and granddaughter.

A woman of many interests, Gloria was an avid fisherman, often found fishing for Halibut and Salmon in the scenic waters off the Prince of Wales Islands and Queen Charlotte Isle in Canada. She also cherished the times spent on cruises and family gatherings during holidays. A creative spirit, she also took joy in sewing Halloween costumes for her family, adding a touch of her personal flair to each celebration. Gloria's life was filled with warmth and kindness, characteristics that were mirrored in her interactions with her family and customers. Her culinary skills, particularly her Lemon Meringue Pies and Sticky Buns, were highlights of the many parties she hosted.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Steve Wilson; daughter Shari Turner and her husband Jeff; granddaughter Nicole Allred; brother Glen Coonce and his wife Patty; and sister Glenda. Gloria was preceded in death by her son Steven Wilson II, her mother Helen Wray, stepfather Glen, and brothers Jim and Warren.

Gloria's legacy of love, craftsmanship, and community will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew her. The family asks that people if they'd like to honor her legacy make a contribution to"Bitterroot Valley Chapter Montana Ducks Unlimited"
