Charles "Chuck" Leavens died at his home on April 8, 2022. Chuck was born the 4 th child of 12
children to Lewis and Inez Leavens in Darby, Montana in 1934. Chuck moved with his family to
the family homestead on the West Fork and graduated from Darby High School. He lived on the
West Fork the rest of his life, not only proving he had good sense but also wisdom!

Chuck spent his life working hard in various sawmills while also working hard on the ranch. He
married Wilma Rickett in 1958 and raised 5 children. His children and grandchildren are Melody
(Rick) Magruder, Independence, KS and grandson Joe, Carrie (Jim) Roberts, Laurel, MT and
grandson Steven and granddaughter Janie, Tammy (Brad) Schultz, Stevensville, MT, Sherry
(Russ) Neufeld, Hamilton, MT and granddaughter Desiree with great grandson Carter, and Dan
Leavens, Darby, MT and granddaughter Adanica and grandsons Austin and Brandon.

Chuck loved the mountains, fishing and huckleberry picking. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle
and square dancing. His loud infectious laugh encouraged all who heard it!
He is preceded in death by his brothers Bill Leavens, Bob Leavens and his sisters Florence Hyatt,
Lila Gullette, Linda Ellis and Susan Leavens.

He is survived by his children, his brothers Don (Suzanne) Leavens and Lude (Barbara) Leavens
and his sisters Loma Meyers, Connie (Ed) Nordin, Pat (Steve) Drye and many nieces and
nephews.

Chuck understood that the simple life with family and friends was the best life; a lasting legacy
that will stay with all who knew him. A memorial service and a celebration of life will occur on
July 2, 2022 at 12 noon at the Leavens family ranch.
