Carl Cooper
Jacobs
May 21, 1937 — Feb 8, 2025
Stevensville - Carl C. Jacobs, 87, formerly of Victor, passed away in the evening, Saturday, February 8, 2025, at the Bitterroot Living Center in Stevensville.
Carl Jacobs was born on 5-21-1937 to Henry and Gertrude Jacobs in Ely, Minnesota. Carl had brothers Ray and Jerry (Gerald) and sisters Kay (Kathryn) and Louise, all still living except Louise, who died at age 38. They all had children or stepchildren, husbands or wives, not listed here. Carl married Marilyn. They divorced in 1990 and they had no children. They remained close friends until her death.
Carl got his forestry degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow ID. He worked on ranger districts of the Kootenai, Clearwater, and Bitterroot forests in Montana and Idaho and some forests in Northern California. He was a silviculturist and likely had other jobs that I don't know of. At his retirement, Carl worked at the Sula Ranger Station in Montana.
Carl was a kind, gentle and generous person with a nice sense of humor. His artistic talent took various forms. He painted leather belt buckles, paintings, figurines he made from natural materials and then pasted on big (purchased) wiggly eyes and he played the guitar and sang. Carl enjoyed hiking and fishing in his beautiful Bitterroot Mountains. He was an enthused and capable square dancer and square dance caller.
Carl took good care of the trees on his 40 acres. Periodically he would cut and skid a load of logs (selectively cut) and hire someone to haul them to the sawmill. He leaves behind him a beautiful stand of large diameter Ponderosa pine.
We will miss Carl.
