Obituary

Anna Mary Robbins, 97, passed from this life on Saturday, February 10th, at Marcus Daly Hospice. Born December 5th, 1920, in Tower, N.D., she spent her childhood working hard on the family farm but finding time to cause plenty of trouble and fun along the way.

Ann married Kenneth Robbins in 1941. After managing a bar in Towner, they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, and established the Robbin's Nest Motel. In 1951, it was off to Hamilton, MT, where the owned the Coast to Coast hardware store for many years before selling to Tom and Sandy Evans, who became their good friends. After divorcing Ken, Ann packed up, headed for Palm Springs, CA, and became an interior decorator, meeting many famous people, including Liberace, Ginger Rogers, Bob Hope, and (her favorite) Frank Sinatra. Befriended by popular lounge entertainers Dale and Terry, a song was written about her --- "Two Gun Annie"!

Ann was proud to claim Mr. Lawrence Welk as a cousin and enjoyed a visit to his resort.

Returning to Hamilton in her "golden years", Ann lived at Sapphire Lutheran Home with many of her long-time friends, including Bette and Ray Thrailkill.

Ann was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters, one son, Jimmy, in 1960, and many friends. Her very best friend from childhood, Leone Hicks, lives in Long Beach, CA, and her special cousin, Stan Bertsch, lives in Missoula, MT. She is survived by her son, Gerry, two daughters, Sheila and Beth, six grandkids and seven great-grandchildren.

Many thanks to her wonderful friends and helpers at Sapphire Homes, Marcus Daly – Mr. Ed at Hospice, the St. Francis Catholic community, with special gratitude to Sister Mary Margaret, Father Jack Darragh, Nancy Foisey, Becky Grimm, Diane, Gabe, Nancy, Beth McCoy, Ron and Jane Roberts and Glenda Krueger.
